Stellantis announced it would temporarily lay off 68 workers at an assembly plant in Ohio as the United Auto Workers strike nears a week.
The company, which owns brands such as Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, said the layoffs would affect the Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, and that it “anticipates similar actions” will have to be taken for 300 employees at two facilities in Indiana. The move comes as the targeted strike by the UAW enters its sixth day with little visible progress.

“As a consequence of the strike action at the Toledo Assembly Complex (TAC), Stellantis confirms that it will immediately temporarily lay off 68 employees at the Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, due to storage constraints.
