New­som to lead Biden cam­paign coun­ter­pro­gram­ming to Repub­li­can debate

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s reelec­tion cam­paign is plan­ning to counter the Repub­li­can debate in Cal­i­for­nia next week with a strat­e­gy sim­i­lar to the one deployed in Mil­wau­kee, Wis­con­sin. This time, though, the effort will be led in part by Gov. Gavin New­som (D‑CA).
In this capac­i­ty, New­som will head­line a call with reporters on Mon­day to set the tone for the week, along with Rep. Nan­cy Pelosi (D‑CA) and Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Com­mit­tee Chair­man Jaime Har­ri­son.

The Cal­i­for­nia gov­er­nor will be in the area dur­ing the Repub­li­can debate in Simi Val­ley, where the Ronald Rea­gan Pres­i­den­tial Library and Muse­um is, joined by Har­ri­son and Biden cam­paign man­ag­er Julie Chavez Rodriguez.
Biden cam­paign advis­ers are expect­ing the sec­ond debate to focus more on the econ­o­my, point­ing to its host, Fox Busi­ness. The cam­paign plans to use this as an oppor­tu­ni­ty to com­pare “Bide­nomics” with the Repub­li­can eco­nom­ic poli­cies being espoused by can­di­dates.
