Montana taxpayers must have owned and lived in a residence in the state for at least seven months to qualify for the rebate. Another requirement for the rebate includes having been billed and having paid for the property taxes on the residence for tax year 2022.
The rebate amount is equal to the amount paid in property taxes for a taxpayer’s “principal Montana residence,” and there is a limit of $675 for the rebate payment. The state says each property can be used for one tax rebate.
Rebates are sent within 30 days of filing an online application through a portal or up to 90 days after submitting a paper application.
