Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), who voted for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) in both rounds of voting for a speaker on the House floor, has embarked on a fact-finding trip to Israel while the House plans to continue voting for a new speaker through the weekend if necessary.
According to a statement reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the congressman said, “After retiring from the military in 2014, I made a solemn promise to the Jewish people that if anything like what took place on October 7, 2023 were to ever happen, that I would help them and their nation to the best of my ability.”
