Rep. Byron Don­alds (R‑FL), who has entered the race to be the next speak­er of the House, said Sun­day he doubts the pro­longed fight over the posi­tion will dam­age his par­ty in the 2024 gen­er­al elec­tion.
“I don’t think it’s going to dam­age the pres­i­den­tial elec­tion,” Don­alds told Fox & Friends co-host Rachel Cam­pos-Duffy, who ques­tioned whether the pro­longed bat­tle over who will assume for­mer House Speak­er Kevin McCarthy’s post would dam­age the par­ty’s prospects in the Novem­ber pres­i­den­tial elec­tion next year.
