Pres­i­dent Joe Biden will not be on the New Hamp­shire pri­ma­ry bal­lot for the 2024 pres­i­den­tial elec­tion.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s cam­paign man­ag­er, announced the news in a let­ter to Ray­mond Buck­ley, chair­man of the New Hamp­shire Demo­c­ra­t­ic Par­ty, on Tues­day. Rodriguez cit­ed guid­ance from the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Com­mit­tee that said not to file for a spot on the state’s pri­ma­ry bal­lot.

“While the pres­i­dent wish­es to par­tic­i­pate in the Pri­ma­ry, he is oblig­at­ed as a Demo­c­ra­t­ic can­di­date for Pres­i­dent to com­ply with the Del­e­gate Selec­tion Rules for the 2024 Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Con­ven­tion pro­mul­gat­ed by the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Com­mit­tee,” she wrote. “On Octo­ber 24, 2023, the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Committee’s Rules & Bylaws Com­mit­tee issued guid­ance urg­ing Demo­c­ra­t­ic cam­paigns to refrain from plac­ing can­di­dates’ names on the bal­lot.”
