Texas Rangers win 2023 World Series, first cham­pi­onship in fran­chise his­to­ry

The Texas Rangers are the 2023 World Series cham­pi­ons, defeat­ing the Ari­zona Dia­mond­backs 5–0 to take home their first-ever cham­pi­onship.
The Rangers went 11–0 on the road dur­ing the play­offs, defeat­ing the defend­ing cham­pi­on Hous­ton Astros in sev­en games in the Amer­i­can League Cham­pi­onship Series. Pri­or to this improb­a­ble post­sea­son run, they had­n’t been to the play­offs in sev­en years.

The Rangers were led by sec­ond base­man Mar­cus Semi­en, short­stop Corey Sea­ger, and start­ing pitch­er Nathan Eoval­di, who allowed zero runs in Wednes­day’s start. Sea­ger was named World Series MVP, becom­ing only the fourth play­er ever to do so mul­ti­ple times, as he pre­vi­ous­ly won with the Los Ange­les Dodgers.
But the Ranger­s’s post­sea­son run was defined by every­one pitch­ing in, and under the tute­lage of man­ag­er Bruce Bochy — who won three cham­pi­onships with the San Fran­cis­co Giants — the Texas ball club was able to bring the World Series home.
