Hillary Clin­ton’s Colum­bia stu­dents walk out of class in anti-Israel protest

Sev­er­al stu­dents walked out of Hillary Clin­ton’s Colum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty class Wednes­day, join­ing demon­stra­tors in the build­ing lob­by for an anti-Israel protest.
Clin­ton was giv­ing a two-hour lec­ture on women’s involve­ment in peace process­es but was inter­rupt­ed at about the halfway point when rough­ly 30 of the 300 atten­dees stood up and left, accord­ing to the New York Times.

The stu­dents were report­ed­ly doing so in protest of the uni­ver­si­ty’s han­dling of the war in Israel’s fall­out on cam­pus. Many of the protest­ing stu­dents had signed a let­ter after the Oct. 7 ter­ror­ist attacks by Hamas against Israel that said, “The weight of respon­si­bil­i­ty for the war and casu­al­ties unde­ni­ably lies with the Israeli extrem­ist gov­ern­ment.”
Fol­low­ing its dis­sem­i­na­tion, watch­dog group Accu­ra­cy in Media sent mobile bill­boards to the cam­pus, show­cas­ing the names and pho­tographs of sig­na­to­ries. The bill­board labeled them “Columbia’s Lead­ing Anti­semites.”
