Ben Car­son endors­es Trump, cit­ing econ­o­my, bor­der secu­ri­ty, and glob­al respect

For­mer Hous­ing and Urban Devel­op­ment Sec­re­tary Ben Car­son defend­ed his endorse­ment of Don­ald Trump in the 2024 elec­tion.
Car­son appeared on Sun­day Morn­ing Futures to offer an expla­na­tion, as Trump’s for­mer cab­i­net mem­ber, with eight can­di­dates cur­rent­ly vying for the Repub­li­can nom­i­na­tion a year out from the elec­tion.

“Well, I think any objec­tive per­son rec­og­nizes that dur­ing the Trump admin­is­tra­tion and the pre-Covid days we had a boom­ing econ­o­my,” Car­son said. “We had a secure bor­der. We had ener­gy inde­pen­dence. We had record low unem­ploy­ment. We had hope for the future. We had respect in the world.”
The retired neu­ro­sur­geon went on to sug­gest that more vot­ers are also com­ing around to the Repub­li­can Par­ty, includ­ing African Amer­i­can vot­ers.
