Millions of Supplemental Security Income recipients will see the first of two December SSI payments from the Social Security Administration in 23 days. The payments are worth up to $914 for individual filers.
The first round of payments will go out on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, and the second will go out on Friday, Dec. 29, because of a kink in the administration’s calendar. The Dec. 29 payment will take the place of January’s because Jan. 1 is a holiday and Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 are on a weekend.

In order to qualify for the payments, recipients need to be at least 65 and meet certain financial requirements. Some people under the age of 65 could still qualify for the payments if they are at least partially blind or have a physical or mental disability that severely limits their daily activities for at least a year or is expected to result in death, according to the administration.
