McCarthy slams Nan­cy Mace and ‘crazy eight’ Repub­li­cans who oust­ed him

For­mer House Speak­er Kevin McCarthy (R‑CA) tar­get­ed mul­ti­ple mem­bers of Con­gress who vot­ed to oust him from his posi­tion last month, cast­ing doubt on their reelec­tion chances and via­bil­i­ty in the cham­ber.
McCarthy told CNN’s chief con­gres­sion­al cor­re­spon­dent, Manu Raju, on Thurs­day that the “crazy eight” have wound­ed the con­fer­ence and that mem­bers like Rep. Nan­cy Mace (R‑SC) don’t deserve to return to Con­gress.

“I mean, if you’ve watched her, just her phi­los­o­phy and the flip-flop­ping,” McCarthy said. “I don’t believe she wins reelec­tion. I don’t think she’ll prob­a­bly have earned the right to get reelect­ed.”
Mace, once an ally to the Cal­i­for­nia Repub­li­can, said she vot­ed in favor of his fir­ing because McCarthy failed to bring up leg­is­la­tion that he pre­vi­ous­ly promised he would.
Mace told CNN that she stands by her vote to oust McCarthy, and crit­i­cized the for­mer speak­er for “lying all the time to her.”
