After ‘Ver­min’ Remark, PBS New­sHour Turns to His­to­ri­an for ‘Trump Mim­ics Hitler’ Talk

The Mon­day evening PBS New­sHour starred recur­ring guest, New York Uni­ver­si­ty pro­fes­sor Ruth Ben-Ghi­at, using Trump’s talk of left­ist “ver­min” at a ral­ly on Veteran’s Day to com­pare the for­mer pres­i­dent to Hitler. (With the far-left’s pub­lic anti-semit­ic behav­ior of late, some are cheek­i­ly tempt­ed to ask if being com­pared to Hitler is a good thing or a bad thing on the left.)
Ben-Ghi­at likened Trump to fas­cists three times along with sim­i­lar unseem­ly com­par­isons. It began:

Don­ald Trump: We will root out the com­mu­nists, Marx­ists, fas­cists, and the rad­i­cal left thugs that live like ver­min with­in the con­fines of our coun­try, that lie and steal and cheat on elec­tions, and will do any­thing pos­si­ble, they will do any­thing, whether legal­ly or ille­gal­ly, to destroy Amer­i­ca and to destroy the Amer­i­can dream.
