Biden skips saying tech firm’s name during APEC speech: ‘Not gonna even try’

President Joe Biden refused to attempt naming an unknown tech firm during a San Francisco speech.
Speaking at the weeklong Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, Biden talked up the U.S. economy and the large companies that support it, such as Apple, Boeing, and Visa, saying “they make our region more resilient, make it more secure.”

He then started naming a few other firms before giving up on one that was too perplexing.
“Leading tech companies, like Anthropic and, I’m going to mispronounce — I’m not gonna even try,” Biden said to laughter from the audience. “It’s better not to try and not mispronounce than try and mispronounce.”

“The point is, small- and medium-sized business startups are getting in on the action as well,” he continued. It is unclear which company the president intended to name.
