Fol­low­ing what Capi­tol police char­ac­ter­ized as an ille­gal and vio­lent protest at the Demo­c­ra­t­ic Nation­al Com­mit­tee head­quar­ters Wednes­day night, at least one demon­stra­tor was arrest­ed while six offi­cers were left injured.
Sev­er­al Demo­c­ra­t­ic law­mak­ers were inside the build­ing when the pro­test­ers arrived, bar­ri­cad­ing them­selves in front of the doors to pre­vent any­one from enter­ing or exit­ing the build­ing.

One law­mak­er said the protest “scared me more than Jan­u­ary 6,” accord­ing to Axios. “Police were wear­ing gas masks … this was not peace­ful.”
Capi­tol police revealed that injuries to offi­cers ranged “from minor cuts to being pep­per sprayed to being punched.” The pro­test­er who faced arrest did so due to assault­ing an offi­cer, USCP said.
