President Joe Biden talked up his Cadillac to Chinese President Xi Jinping while leaving the Filoli Estate in California following a meeting between the two leaders on Wednesday, alerting Xi to its nickname of “the Beast.”
Biden and Xi were walking toward the Chinese president’s limousine, shaking hands, when Biden called the limo “a beautiful vehicle.” After Xi told Biden that the vehicle was a “homemade” Hongqi sedan, Biden pointed to his mode of transportation.

“Do you know what they call that car? They call it ‘the Beast,’ ” Biden said to his Chinese counterpart, according to the footage from state broadcaster China Central Television.
Xi just responded, “See you tomorrow.”
“The Beast” is a 10-ton Cadillac, estimated to be worth around $1.5 million, and it features protections from nearly every attack imaginable, sporting bulletproof glass. It is covered in 5‑inch-thick, military-grade armor, while the 8‑inch-thick doors feature additional armor. The doors are as heavy as those of a Boeing 757 aircraft.
