Biden team scram­bles to shore up sup­port with long­time Demo­c­ra­t­ic sup­port­ers Trump is court­ing

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s reelec­tion cam­paign is look­ing to pre­vent for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump from gain­ing sup­port from union work­ers by using the for­mer pres­i­den­t’s own words against him.
The Biden-Har­ris 2024 cam­paign’s X account post­ed a video using quotes from Trump with the cap­tion, “Let’s remem­ber what the last guy thinks of Amer­i­can work­ers,” as it tries to main­tain sup­port from union work­ers.

“I know the unions. They’re dues-suck­ing peo­ple,” one quote from Trump said.
“They get their lit­tle 5%. They get anoth­er 2%. They get anoth­er 3%, 4%. Then, all of a sud­den, they’re mak­ing more mon­ey than the peo­ple that own the com­pa­ny,” anoth­er quote from Trump used in the video said.
The video con­cludes by declar­ing Trump “anti-union” and “anti-work­er.”
Union work­ers have tra­di­tion­al­ly been a safe­ly Demo­c­ra­t­ic vot­ing group, but the GOP under Trump has increas­ing­ly tried to appeal to the vot­ing bloc in sev­er­al key swing states includ­ing Ohio, Michi­gan, and Penn­syl­va­nia.
