Biden team trash­es report it’s con­sid­er­ing using Tik­Tok as app con­tro­ver­sy ramps up

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s cam­paign swat­ted down a report Fri­day that it may be join­ing Tik­Tok to reach younger vot­ers.
“Lol this is not a scoop,” Biden cam­paign senior com­mu­ni­ca­tions advis­er T.J. Duck­lo wrote on X, for­mer­ly Twit­ter, in response to an arti­cle from Axios.

Biden’s reelec­tion team is con­sid­er­ing mak­ing its Tik­Tok debut, accord­ing to Axios, par­tic­u­lar­ly giv­en the app’s abil­i­ty to reach young vot­ers.
How­ev­er, the app has stirred con­tro­ver­sy for years due to its Chi­nese own­er­ship and ques­tions about data stor­age. Its algo­rithm and the grow­ing share of peo­ple using it as a main source of news also have raised alarm bells. But Repub­li­cans have made more noise about their con­cerns regard­ing the app, and some promi­nent Democ­rats still use the app to their advan­tage.
“Cam­paigns talk about a bunch of stuff and some we do and a bunch we don’t,” Duck­lo con­tin­ued. “Some­thing some out­lets who know bet­ter choose to ignore for cLicKs. If we have news to share we’ll let yall know!”
