Eligible residents in Alabama are set to receive a tax rebate of up to $300 in 14 days, according to the state’s Department of Revenue.
The payments are made possible by the state’s budget surplus, officials said. The one-time tax rebate was announced months ago and is set to be delivered starting Dec. 1.

To qualify for the rebate from the state, one must have filed 2021 income taxes by Oct. 17, 2022. Nonresidents of the state, trusts, estates, and people claimed as dependents are not eligible for the rebate, according to the state.
“From the very beginning, it has been my belief that it is the responsibility of government to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars while actively looking for ways to support citizens through tough times,” Gov. Kay Ivey (R‑AL) said in a statement about the rebate.
