Three people arrested during pro-Palestinian protest at Union Station

Three peo­ple were arrest­ed at a protest at Union Sta­tion in Wash­ing­ton, D.C., on Fri­day night, where a crowd of hun­dreds of pro-Pales­tin­ian pro­test­ers gath­ered to call for a cease­fire in the Israel-Hamas war.
The protest, the likes of which was also seen at Penn Sta­tion in New York City, result­ed in the sta­tion’s red line being shut down for three hours while the protest was hap­pen­ing. How­ev­er, when the crowds dis­si­pat­ed at around 8 p.m., the trains resumed their sched­ule, accord­ing to WTOP News.

Pro­test­ers douse the walls out­side the sta­tion with graf­fi­ti and press red hand prints on them. Those arrest­ed were detained for defac­ing prop­er­ty, the Met­ro­pol­i­tan Police Depart­ment told the Wash­ing­ton Exam­in­er. A fourth per­son was also arrest­ed at Union Sta­tion on Fri­day night but was unre­lat­ed to the protest.
