Biden los­es ground with black and women vot­ers in Michi­gan: Poll

New polling data released on Sat­ur­day shows that Pres­i­dent Joe Biden is los­ing ground among key demo­graph­ic groups in the swing state of Michi­gan less than a year out from the 2024 pres­i­den­tial elec­tion.
The poll, con­duct­ed by EPIC-MRA, found for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump lead­ing Biden among Michi­gan vot­ers 46%-41% in a head-to-head matchup. Biden won the state 51%-48% in 2020.

“Democ­rats ought to be aware there is a grow­ing pos­si­bil­i­ty that Don­ald Trump may become pres­i­dent again,” said EPIC-MRA poll­ster Bernie Porn, per the Detroit Free Press.
Exit polls from the 2020 elec­tion showed black vot­ers in Michi­gan over­whelm­ing­ly sup­port­ed Biden at 92% over­all. Sep­a­rat­ed by gen­der, 88% of black men sup­port­ed Biden in 2020 com­pared to 95% of black women.
Sat­ur­day’s poll, how­ev­er, reveals a sub­stan­tial drop in sup­port for Biden among black vot­ers, with only 62% of black respon­dents say­ing they would back the cur­rent pres­i­dent for a sec­ond term.
Of black vot­ers who would not reelect the pres­i­dent, 17% sup­port­ed Trump, and 21% remained unde­cid­ed.
