White House ‘not going to gov­ern by polls’ as Biden approval rat­ings sag

The White House says it won’t gov­ern by polls as Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s approval rat­ings con­tin­ue to sag.
The lat­est bad Biden poll came from NBC News, which report­ed that 70% of vot­ers between ages 18 and 34 dis­ap­prove of his han­dling of the Israel-Hamas war. Even more wor­ry­ing for Democ­rats, the same poll found Biden trail­ing for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump.

A reporter asked press sec­re­tary Karine Jean-Pierre about the num­bers dur­ing Mon­day’s White House press brief­ing.
“There are going to be a num­ber of polls that are going to be com­ing out, which obvi­ous­ly we respect,” Jean-Pierre respond­ed. “But what I’ll be very clear about is that we are not going to gov­ern by polls here.”
Jean-Pierre con­tin­ued by say­ing the Biden admin­is­tra­tion is focused on deliv­er­ing for the pub­lic and crit­i­ciz­ing how Trump han­dled the econ­o­my and the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.
Democ­rats have been alarmed by sur­veys that are con­sis­tent­ly find­ing Trump with a slim lead over Biden, who oust­ed Trump from the Oval Office in 2020.
