Social Secu­ri­ty update: Direct pay­ment worth $914 arrives in sev­en days

Mil­lions of Sup­ple­men­tal Secu­ri­ty Income ben­e­fi­cia­ries will get their first of two Decem­ber SSI pay­ments from the Social Secu­ri­ty Admin­is­tra­tion, worth up to $914 for indi­vid­ual fil­ers, in one week.
The first install­ment is set to be dis­bursed on Fri­day, Dec. 1, fol­lowed by a rare sec­ond pay­ment that will go out four weeks lat­er, on Fri­day, Dec. 29. The sec­ond pay­ment will replace Jan­u­ary’s install­ment because of a sched­ul­ing quirk in the admin­is­tra­tion’s cal­en­dar. The quirk is due to Jan. 1 being a fed­er­al hol­i­day and Dec. 30 and Dec. 31 being on a week­end.

The max­i­mum amount of the pay­ment varies depend­ing on how recip­i­ents file for the ben­e­fits. For indi­vid­u­als, the max­i­mum rate for pay­ments is $914 per month.
