Food stamps: Pay­ment dates for Decem­ber SNAP ben­e­fits

The Sup­ple­men­tal Nutri­tion Assis­tance Pro­gram will begin send­ing out its Decem­ber round of pay­ments to recip­i­ents in five days.
SNAP ben­e­fit dis­tri­b­u­tion fol­lows the same pay­ment sched­ule from month to month, with the exact dates vary­ing from state to state. Some states issue all of their food stamp pay­ments in one day or over the course of three days, while oth­ers con­tin­ue to send out pay­ments for the major­i­ty of the month.

Pay­ments are dis­trib­uted based on a house­hold’s Social Secu­ri­ty num­ber, birth date, case num­ber, or last name. The method of dis­tri­b­u­tion also varies by state.
Alas­ka, North Dako­ta, Rhode Island, and Ver­mont are the first to send out SNAP ben­e­fit pay­ments to eli­gi­ble house­holds. All of the pay­ments will arrive for recip­i­ents Fri­day.
All oth­er states and the Dis­trict of Colum­bia will begin issu­ing pay­ments through­out the month of Decem­ber. Below are the pay­ment sched­ules for each state:
