Chris Christie slams Haley’s rever­sal on abor­tion ban and try­ing ‘to be every­thing to every­body’

For­mer New Jer­sey Gov. Chris Christie crit­i­cized fel­low 2024 Repub­li­can pres­i­den­tial hope­ful Nik­ki Haley for chang­ing her posi­tion on abor­tion bans depend­ing on the audi­ence.
Christie took issue with “dif­fer­ent can­di­dates say­ing dif­fer­ent things depend­ing on what state they’re in,” speak­ing on Morn­ing Joe on Tues­day.

“So on the stage, you know, you had Gov. Haley talk­ing about, ‘We don’t want to be divi­sive about abor­tion.’ Yet, then she goes to Iowa and sits across from Bob Van­der Plaats last week and says she’d sign a six-week ban on abor­tion,” Christie said, not­ing he would not sign a nation­al six-week ban on abor­tion.
Speak­ing at a forum last week for 2024 can­di­dates host­ed by the evan­gel­i­cal orga­ni­za­tion the Fam­i­ly Leader, led by Bob Van­der Plaats, Haley said if she was still gov­er­nor of South Car­oli­na, she would sign a six-week abor­tion ban if that is what the peo­ple decid­ed.
Haley had pre­vi­ous­ly com­mit­ted to a fed­er­al abor­tion ban while not dis­clos­ing how many weeks it should encom­pass, often point­ing out that the law is unlike­ly to pass with­out more Repub­li­cans in Con­gress. On the debat …
