Armed bystander fatal­ly shoots rob­bery sus­pect at Dol­lar Gen­er­al

An armed bystander at a Ten­nessee Dol­lar Gen­er­al jumped into action Tues­day, shoot­ing and killing one of three sus­pects dur­ing an ongo­ing rob­bery.
The shoot­ing occurred at a Mem­phis loca­tion on Win­ches­ter Road around 10:34 a.m., accord­ing to a release from the Mem­phis Police Depart­ment.

“Pre­lim­i­nary infor­ma­tion indi­cates that three armed sus­pects were rob­bing the busi­ness,” accord­ing to the release. “Dur­ing the inci­dent, a sub­ject observed the rob­bery in progress and fired a shot, strik­ing sus­pect #1. Sus­pects #2 and #3 fled the the scene.”

A short inves­ti­ga­tion pro­ceed­ed, and one of the two flee­ing sus­pects was detained. The third sus­pect remains at large, accord­ing to the release.

“Sus­pect #1 was trans­port­ed crit­i­cal to [a local hos­pi­tal] and lat­er suc­cumbed to his injuries,” accord­ing to the release. “Offi­cers have the shoot­er and the sus­pect #2 detained at the scene.”
No charges have been con­firmed against the shoot­er, and an inves­ti­ga­tion into the inci­dent is ongo­ing.
