Biden says he isn’t the only Demo­c­rat who can beat Trump, ‘but I will’

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden sug­gest­ed to reporters on Wednes­day that there are oth­er Democ­rats who could beat for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump in the 2024 elec­tion but still vowed to do so him­self.
Biden, fol­low­ing remarks at the White House pres­sur­ing Repub­li­cans to approve his sup­ple­men­tal fund­ing request for addi­tion­al Ukraine aid, was asked if he believes anoth­er can­di­date could have suc­cess in the gen­er­al elec­tion.

“Prob­a­bly 50 of them,” Biden joked. “I’m not the only one who could defeat him, but I will defeat him.”
The pres­i­den­t’s com­ments come just one day after telling Demo­c­ra­t­ic donors that he was only run­ning to ensure Trump, the run­away favorite in the Repub­li­can pri­ma­ry, los­es the gen­er­al.
