Sus­pect­ed High­land Park shoot­er tri­al sched­uled for Feb­ru­ary

Sus­pect­ed High­land Park shoot­er Robert Crimo III will go to tri­al for dozens of mur­der charges ear­ly next year for the July 4, 2022, mass shoot­ing in the Chica­go sub­urb.
The tri­al date was set for Feb. 26, 2024, dur­ing a hear­ing Mon­day in the Lake Coun­ty Cour­t­house. Crimo exer­cised his right to a speedy tri­al in set­ting the tri­al date, accord­ing to ABC 7 Chica­go.

The sus­pect­ed shoot­er has elect­ed to defend him­self after plead­ing not guilty to all 117 counts he has been charged with for the mass shoot­ing last year. The var­i­ous charges include 21 counts of first-degree mur­der, 48 counts of attempt­ed mur­der, and 48 counts of aggra­vat­ed assault.
The case is expect­ed to take four to six weeks, with Crimo’s next court appear­ance set for Jan. 10, 2024, accord­ing to NBC 5 Chica­go.
