Social Secu­ri­ty update: March direct pay­ment worth $943 goes out in 19 days

There is a lit­tle less than three weeks until mil­lions of ben­e­fi­cia­ries receive March’s Sup­ple­men­tal Secu­ri­ty Income pay­ment, worth up to $943 for indi­vid­ual fil­ers.
The pay­ment goes out in 19 days, on March 1, and will mark the sec­ond pay­check for 2024 since no pay­ments went out in Jan­u­ary due to a sched­ul­ing quirk in the Social Secu­ri­ty Administration’s cal­en­dar. 
The max­i­mum amount each per­son can get through this pro­gram depends on the way each of the recip­i­ents filed for the pay­ment. 
There are three cat­e­gories for ben­e­fi­cia­ries to choose from when fil­ing for the pay­ments: indi­vid­ual, joint, or as an essen­tial per­son. The essen­tial per­son cat­e­go­ry is for those who live with peo­ple receiv­ing SSI pay­ments and pro­vide them with nec­es­sary care. 
Indi­vid­ual fil­ers can receive up to $943 each month, eli­gi­ble cou­ples can receive up to $1,415, and essen­tial per­sons get up to $472 each month …
