Biden touts jobs report as ‘milestone in America’s comeback’

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden boast­ed about the strong March jobs report Fri­day morn­ing, say­ing it’s a sign that his administration’s plans are work­ing.
“Today’s report marks a mile­stone in America’s come­back,” he said in a pre­pared state­ment. “Three years ago, I inher­it­ed an econ­o­my on the brink. With today’s report of 303,000 new jobs in March, we have passed the mile­stone of 15 mil­lion jobs cre­at­ed since I took office.”
The 303,000 fig­ure report­ed by the Bureau of Labor Sta­tis­tics exceeds the expect­ed gain of 212,000 new jobs, which is favor­able news for both the econ­o­my and Biden.
Unem­ploy­ment fell to 3.8%, a his­tor­i­cal­ly low fig­ure, despite the Fed­er­al Reserve’s inter­est rate tar­get remain­ing at 5.25% to 5.5%, the high­est lev­el of this cen­tu­ry. The num­bers may give Biden more ammu­ni­tion to boost his “Bide­nomics” mes­sag­ing push, though …
