Judge denies Trump bid to delay New York hush money trial

For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump’s bid to delay his New York hush mon­ey tri­al was denied by a judge.
Trump’s last-minute attempt to delay the tri­al argued that a fair and impar­tial jury couldn’t be select­ed in New York City and so there should be a change in venue. The motion was denied by the New York Appel­late Division’s 1st Depart­ment.
“Defendant’s appli­ca­tion for a stay of tri­al … pend­ing the deter­mi­na­tion of defendant’s motion for change of venue, is denied,” Jus­tice Liz­beth Gon­za­lez ruled Mon­day. 
Trump’s lawyers argued that “polling and quan­ti­ta­tive analy­sis of media cov­er­age shows that a fair and impar­tial jury can­not be select­ed right now based on prej­u­di­cial pre­tri­al pub­lic­i­ty.”
