Johnson’s struggle to contain the chaos in the House hasn’t hurt his ability to woo donors

House Speak­er Mike John­son (R‑LA) raised more than $20 mil­lion from donors in the first quar­ter of 2024 despite storm clouds brew­ing in the cham­ber he tries to hold order over.
Rep. Mar­jorie Tay­lor Greene’s (R‑GA) pro­posed ouster of John­son in March raised the dra­ma to a boil­ing point among House Repub­li­cans who large­ly dis­agreed with the move in fear of a Demo­c­ra­t­ic speak­er replac­ing him. 
But uncer­tain­ty in the House hasn’t affect­ed Johnson’s abil­i­ty to fundraise. He’s trav­eled to more than 20 states and raised $30 mil­lion over­all for House Repub­li­cans since they boot­ed Speak­er Kevin McCarthy in Octo­ber.
