Biden: US is ‘committed’ to Israel’s security and a Gaza ceasefire

Pres­i­dent Joe Biden said Mon­day that the Unit­ed States backs Israel‘s right to secu­ri­ty while warn­ing against a broad­er war break­ing out with Iran in the Mid­dle East.
The “Unit­ed States is com­mit­ted to Israel’s secu­ri­ty,” Biden said dur­ing an Oval Office bilat­er­al meet­ing with Iraq’s Prime Min­is­ter Mohammed Shia al Sudani after Iran attacked Israel over the week­end.
Biden praised the part­ner­ship between the U.S., Israel, and their allies to inter­cept drones and mis­siles Iran fired off at Israel on Sat­ur­day while also call­ing for a nego­ti­at­ed cease­fire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
