Trump condemns New York judge who may not let him skip trial to attend son’s graduation

For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump railed against Judge Juan Mer­chan for not approv­ing him to skip tri­al pro­ceed­ings on May 17 for his son Barron’s high school grad­u­a­tion, with Mer­chan punt­ing on whether Trump will be allowed to have the day off.
Mer­chan report­ed­ly said he “can­not rule on those dates at this time,” not­ing it will depend on how the tri­al is pro­ceed­ing. The for­mer pres­i­dent attacked the judge’s inde­ci­sion, telling reporters out­side the court­room it appeared he would not be allowed to “escape” the “scam tri­al.”
