
The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe Doescher noted that as long as President Joe Biden refuses to change his immigration policy, any effort to hold Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas accountable “won’t change anything.”
On Wednesday, Senate Democrats quashed House Republicans’ effort to force the upper chamber to put the impeached Biden administration official on trial. In February, the House charged Mayorkas with willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law and a breach of public trust related to his handling of the border crisis.
“The reality is that impeaching Mayorkas, while it is important because Mayorkas did most likely lied to Congress and Mayorkas has most likely violated the law in not enforcing Congressional law as written, it won’t change anything as long as the official Biden administration policy refuses to change,” Doescher told Your World with Neil Cavuto. “But all this is signaling to voters is that Joe Biden is indeed doubling down on open borders policy.”
Doescher added that the “immigration crisis is unprecedented,” pointing to the almost 10 million illegal immigrants who have crossed the border since Biden took office, including “1.7 million gotaways.”
