Man sen­tenced to 90 months in prison for fire­bomb­ing anti-abor­tion group

An abor­tion rights activist was sen­tenced to 90 months in fed­er­al prison for fire­bomb­ing an anti-abor­tion build­ing in Madi­son, Wis­con­sin, in May 2022.
Hridin­du Sankar Roy­chowd­hury, 29, plead­ed guilty in Decem­ber to throw­ing two Molo­tov cock­tails through the win­dows of Wis­con­sin Fam­i­ly Action on May 8, 2022. The attack hap­pened short­ly after the leak of the Unit­ed States Supreme Court deci­sion in Dobbs v. Jack­son Women’s Health Orga­ni­za­tion, which con­clud­ed that the Con­sti­tu­tion does not pro­vide a right to abor­tion, and appeared to be an act of retal­i­a­tion for the deci­sion. He was sen­tenced to fed­er­al prison last week for his actions.
Court doc­u­ments revealed that one of Roychowdhury’s fire­bombs set a book­case on fire, accord­ing to the Depart­ment of Jus­tice. Police offi­cers arrived on the scene to an active fire in the office.
