‘Squad’ mem­bers come to defense of Omar’s daugh­ter after school sus­pen­sion

Reps. Alexan­dria Oca­sio-Cortez (D‑NY) and Rashi­da Tlaib (D‑MI) took to X to show their sol­i­dar­i­ty with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D‑MN) daugh­ter, Isra Hir­si, fol­low­ing her par­tic­i­pa­tion in a pro-Pales­tin­ian protest at Barnard Col­lege. 
Hir­si announced on X that she was one of three stu­dents sus­pend­ed “for stand­ing in sol­i­dar­i­ty with Pales­tini­ans fac­ing a geno­cide.” 
“From UM to Van­der­bilt to USC to Colum­bia, stu­dents across our coun­try are being retal­i­at­ed against for using their con­sti­tu­tion­al rights to protest geno­cide. It’s appalling,” Tlaib wrote on X.
