The ‘Mary Poppins’ of Censorship Is Back — Again!

The winds have unfor­tu­nate­ly changed and brought the for­mer direc­tor of the defunct Dis­in­for­ma­tion Gov­er­nance Board back — and with her a new cen­sor­ship orga­ni­za­tion.
Nina Jankow­icz, the self-pro­claimed “Mary Pop­pins of dis­in­for­ma­tion,” announced her newest cen­sor­ship ven­ture, The Amer­i­can Sun­light Project. Dur­ing an inter­view with CNN’s America’s Choice, Jankow­icz described her group as “bipar­ti­san” and “big tent,” claim­ing to “rep­re­sent peo­ple on both sides of the polit­i­cal spec­trum.” But as is often the case with these alleged­ly neu­tral cen­sor­ship efforts that attack free speech, bipar­ti­san­ship seems to be the spoon­ful of sug­ar that helps the bias go down.
Appar­ent­ly, nobody told Jankwicz that if you want to be con­sid­ered “bipar­ti­san,” maybe don’t attack Repub­li­cans and “con­ser­v­a­tive media,” call­ing them “extrem­ists” in a wel­come blog on your web­site.
