Jordan demands records on ex-DOJ employee leading Bragg’s prosecution of Trump

The House Judi­cia­ry Com­mit­tee asked the Depart­ment of Jus­tice on Tues­day to pro­vide infor­ma­tion about its for­mer employ­ee Matthew Colan­ge­lo, one of the pros­e­cu­tors lead­ing the hush mon­ey case against for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump in New York.
Com­mit­tee Chair­man Jim Jor­dan (R‑OH) said in a let­ter obtained by the Wash­ing­ton Exam­in­er to Attor­ney Gen­er­al Mer­rick Gar­land that Colangelo’s recent work in the Biden administration’s DOJ and in New York Attor­ney Gen­er­al Leti­tia James’s office height­ened con­cerns that the pros­e­cu­tion of Trump in Man­hat­tan is polit­i­cal­ly moti­vat­ed.
Man­hat­tan Dis­trict Attor­ney Alvin Bragg, an elect­ed Demo­c­rat, charged Trump last year with fal­si­fy­ing busi­ness records, alleg­ing he hid pay­ments to porn star Stormy Daniels to help his 2016 elec­tion prospects. Trump has plead­ed not guilty to the charges and is in the midst of a tri­al for the case.
