Mike John­son has his head on a swiv­el as Democ­rats begin grum­bling about cost of their sup­port

House Speak­er Mike John­son (R‑LA) looks like­ly to sur­vive a motion to vacate next week, but Democ­rats are now report­ed­ly ques­tion­ing if they should have dri­ven a hard­er bar­gain for their sup­port.
Rep. Mar­jorie Tay­lor Greene (R‑GA) said she would force a vote on the motion to vacate next week after ini­tial­ly fil­ing it in March. Ear­li­er this week, House Demo­c­ra­t­ic lead­er­ship said it would vote to table the motion, prac­ti­cal­ly ensur­ing that John­son would be safe. John­son claims he did not ask for or nego­ti­ate a deal for Democ­rats’ sup­port, and now, some Democ­rats have told Axios they think they could have got­ten some­thing out of the House speak­er.
