Actor Robert De Niro suggested that a second term from former President Donald Trump could be similar to Germany’s situation under Adolf Hitler.
De Niro appeared on MSNBC on Thursday to continue his campaign against Trump, who he has long opposed. The actor referred to the then-2016 presidential candidate as a con artist, among other names.
“I don’t think they understand how dangerous it will be if he ever — God forbid — becomes president. I don’t think they really understand,” De Niro said on 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle of Trump supporters. “Historically, from what I have seen, even in Nazi Germany, they had it with Hitler. Don’t take him seriously. He looks like a clown and acts like a clown. Mussolini, same thing.”
