Sadiq Khan becomes first Lon­don may­or to win a third term

Sadiq Khan was declared the win­ner of London’s may­oral elec­tion on Sat­ur­day, becom­ing the first per­son to be elect­ed to the office for the third time.
“Thank you, Lon­don,” Khan wrote in a post on X. “It’s the hon­our of my life to serve the city I love. Today is not about mak­ing his­to­ry, it’s about shap­ing our future. And I’ll work relent­less­ly to shape a fair­er, safer, green­er city for every Lon­don­er.”
Khan, the incum­bent run­ning with the cen­ter-left Labour Par­ty, secured near­ly 44% of the vote, about 11 per­cent­age points bet­ter than Con­ser­v­a­tive and Union­ist Par­ty nom­i­nee Susan Hall. Lib­er­al Demo­c­rat Rob Black­ie and Zoe Gar­bett of the Green Par­ty each gar­nered 5.8%.
