Biden’s presidency sure is historic, just not the way he thinks

There is no deny­ing that Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s first term in office has been his­toric, at least in the sense that he is his­tor­i­cal­ly unpop­u­lar.
Biden has two of the three low­est polling results in Gallup’s mea­sur­ing of people’s con­fi­dence in the pres­i­dent “to do the right thing for the U.S. econ­o­my” since 2001. Just 38% polled this year trust Biden on the econ­o­my, up from his 35% num­ber last year. The only pres­i­dent with a worse num­ber was George W. Bush at 34% in 2008. No oth­er pres­i­dent in any oth­er year has a num­ber low­er than 42%.
For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump is polling at 46% on this issue, which also hap­pens to be the most impor­tant elec­tion top­ic to vot­ers. Trump leads inde­pen­dents over Biden on this issue, 45%-33%.
