Eric Adams says possibility of Trump being jailed is being discussed with Department of Correction

New York City May­or Eric Adams revealed that the pos­si­bil­i­ty of for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump being jailed in the state is being dis­cussed between the mayor’s office and the New York City Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tion.
Adams said in a Tues­day press con­fer­ence that the Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tion and Rik­ers Island would “be ready” in case Trump is jailed for vio­lat­ing Judge Juan Merchan’s gag order in his New York hush mon­ey tri­al.
The department’s com­mis­sion­er “is pre­pared for what­ev­er comes on Rik­ers Island, and I’m pret­ty sure she would be pre­pared to man­age and deal with the sit­u­a­tion,” Adams said.
“We have to adjust,” he said. “In this busi­ness, par­tic­u­lar­ly around law enforce­ment, we have to adjust what­ev­er comes our way, but we don’t want to deal with a hypo­thet­i­cal. But they’re pro­fes­sion­als. They’ll be ready.”
