Mary­land Sen­ate race: Also­brooks clos­es in on Trone days before high-stakes pri­ma­ry

The Demo­c­ra­t­ic pri­ma­ry for an open Sen­ate seat in Mary­land is com­ing down to the wire just days before vot­ers are set to cast their bal­lots in what has become one of the tight­est pri­maries yet in the 2024 cycle. 
The race between Rep. David Trone (D‑MD) and Prince George’s Coun­ty Angela Also­brooks has gar­nered nation­al atten­tion as the con­test has devolved into some of the most bit­ter infight­ing among Democ­rats ahead of the Novem­ber elec­tion. Despite secur­ing endorse­ments from top Demo­c­ra­t­ic lead­ers ear­ly on in the cycle, Trone has since been heav­i­ly crit­i­cized for a slew of con­tro­ver­sial com­ments, allow­ing Also­brooks to close in on his ini­tial lead.
