Schumer rein­tro­duc­ing bipar­ti­san bor­der bill to Sen­ate but shares doubts over chances

Sen­ate Major­i­ty Leader Chuck Schumer (D‑NY) announced that the Sen­ate will vote this week on bipar­ti­san bor­der leg­is­la­tion that failed sev­er­al months ago, but he acknowl­edged the dif­fi­cul­ties the bill faces from both sides of the aisle.
In a “Dear Col­league” let­ter sent on Sun­day, Schumer under­scored the need for the leg­is­la­tion “to secure our bor­der.” He also harsh­ly crit­i­cized for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump for his oppo­si­tion to the bill and how that stance influ­enced Repub­li­can sen­a­tors.
