Fani Willis appeals judge’s dis­missal of charges in Trump elec­tion inter­fer­ence case

Ful­ton Coun­ty Dis­trict Attor­ney Fani Willis appealed a rul­ing made by the judge over­see­ing the Geor­gia elec­tion inter­fer­ence case that dis­missed some of the charges against for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump and oth­ers.
In March, Ful­ton Coun­ty Supe­ri­or Court Judge Scott McAfee found that six indict­ment counts must be dropped, includ­ing three against Trump. McAfee said the counts did not have suf­fi­cient detail regard­ing the nature of the vio­la­tions; how­ev­er, he wrote that pros­e­cu­tors could seek new indict­ments on the dis­missed charges. 
The move came after Trump and the oth­er defen­dants asked an appeals court to reverse McAfee’s rul­ing to allow Willis to con­tin­ue pros­e­cut­ing the case after she was found to have had a roman­tic rela­tion­ship with spe­cial pros­e­cu­tor Nathan Wade.
Trump and more than a dozen oth­er defen­dants were charged with vio­lat­ing Georgia’s Rack­e­teer Influ­enced and Cor­rupt Orga­ni­za­tions Act.
