Trump insists Biden, 81, must debate him stand­ing up

NEW YORK — For­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump revealed dur­ing a ral­ly in the Bronx on Thurs­day that one of his con­di­tions for debat­ing Pres­i­dent Joe Biden next month will be that they stand up.
Trump told a crowd of sev­er­al thou­sand sup­port­ers at the event that he was asked to agree to a seat­ed for­mat for the CNN debate, sched­uled for June 27.
“Today they said, ‘We’d like to set up tables so you sit down.’ I said, ‘I don’t want to sit down for a debate. Let’s go,’” Trump said. “So we’re not sit­ting down. We’re gonna be stand­ing up for the debate.”
Trump’s remark comes after the pre­sump­tive Repub­li­can nom­i­nee said one day pri­or dur­ing a radio inter­view that he expect­ed the pair to be sit­ting for the debate despite his desire to stand.
