EXCLUSIVE — A group of House Republicans from California are urging Gov. Gavin Newsom (D‑CA) to suspend the state’s annual gas tax increase as residents grapple with the nation’s highest gas prices in the country.
In a letter sent to Newsom on Thursday, all 11 House Republicans from California urged Newsom to suspend a pair of gas tax increases that are expected to hit the Golden State later this year: the annual gas tax increase, which is expected to see a slight increase the beginning of July, as well as another 47-cent increase stemming from recent Low Carbon Fuel Standard reforms.
