Mike Johnson to lead investigation into  ‘political retribution’ in courts

Speak­er of the House Mike John­son (R‑LA) promised that one House com­mit­tee will inves­ti­gate Man­hat­tan Dis­trict Attor­ney Alvin Bragg this month.
John­son appeared on Fox News Sun­day less than two weeks before the House Sub­com­mit­tee on the Weaponiza­tion of the Fed­er­al Gov­ern­ment will hear tes­ti­mo­ny from Bragg. This hear­ing, slat­ed for June 13, comes on the heels of Bragg win­ning his crim­i­nal case against for­mer Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, who was found guilty on 34 counts of fal­si­fy­ing busi­ness records.
“And the pur­pose of the hear­ing is to inves­ti­gate what these pros­e­cu­tors are doing at the state and fed­er­al lev­el to use pol­i­tics, you know polit­i­cal ret­ri­bu­tion, in the court sys­tem to go after polit­i­cal oppo­nents of fed­er­al offi­cials like Don­ald Trump. That’s a real­ly impor­tant thing for us to delve into,” John­son said. “And we’re going to look at spe­cial coun­sel Jack Smith, who we believe is abus­ing his author­i­ty as well.”
