North Dakota voters approve measure restricting the age of candidates running for office

Vot­ers in North Dako­ta elect­ed to ini­ti­ate a mea­sure to put an age lim­it restric­tion on can­di­dates run­ning for Con­gress. 
Mea­sure 1, or the Con­gres­sion­al Age Lim­its Ini­tia­tive, pro­hibits can­di­dates from run­ning for the U.S. Sen­ate or U.S. House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives if he or she will turn 81 years old by Decem­ber 31 of the year before their end of term. North Dako­ta vot­ers approved the mea­sure on Tues­day. With more than 95% of precincts report­ing, 60.9% of vot­ers sup­port­ed the mea­sure com­pared to 39.1% who opposed it.
